Hussain Sajwani’s contribution in shaping the Middle East skyline through DAMAC Properties

Hussain Sajwani is an Emirati national who was born in 1956. Mr. Hussain Sajwani was raised in the United Arab Emirates where he spent much of his childhood. He is the firstborn son of a middle-class businessman with deep Omani Roots. Ever since Hussain was young, he was very responsible and acted mature compared to his peers. Because of this, they developed a close relationship with his father who started taking him to his shop at the age of seven years.

Hussain’s experience while accompanying his father to the shop at a tender age played a huge role in nurturing his entrepreneurial spirit and skills. He learned how to handle many issues in a business and how to maintain and grow profits even in a small business. During that time, Hussain’s father used to make business trips to China and India to source for inventory.

Hussain’s education background

Hussain’s father worked hard to ensure that his children had a good education. According to Sajwani, when he was of age, he was sent to Baghdad for further studies. While in Baghdad, he landed a scholarship to study Economics and Industrial engineering at the University of Washington. While in America, Hussain was fascinated by the massive infrastructure in the country. Everything, from malls, offices and other properties were stunning. According to Sajwani, the infrastructure in his home country was a shadow compared to what he was seeing in America.

Launching his career

After completing his studies, Hussain wanted to do something on his own. However, it was a bit difficult to jump directly into business. Founding DAMAC properties

In 1992, Hussain Sajwani founded the DAMAC’s equity holding group which he transformed to DAMAC Properties ten years later. After the government allowed foreigners to own property in Dubai in 2000, Hussain took advantage of the opportunity and began developing the property for sale.

Through his company, Hussain Sajwani, the DAMAC owner, has played a key role in transforming the skyline with elegant designs and luxurious property.
